6th SEC-tember IBSSA Special International Training Course 16 - 21 September 2007

The 6th SEC-tember concluded with great satisfaction though the training was extremely tough! So far the best and the most successful professional event of IBSSA took place between 16 – 21 September 2007 in Budapest!

Already when looking through the applications it was clear that the group arriving in Budapest for the traditional September event – organised for the sixth time now under the leadership of Miss Erika MACSÁRI, General Secretary of the Central Administration Office of IBSSA – would be a special one. Many of the applicants are themselves instructors in their home countries, yet still they felt it was important to participate as students in the international training, organised under the aegis of the struggle against terrorism.

Of course, the names of those leading the training were also a guarantee of high standards. Mr. Karl DELAGUERRA was a SWAT member himself, while Mr. Mike CSOKE is still an active member of the Canadian police; he is engaged in finding dangerous criminals and taking them into custody. Dr. Rony KLUGER participated in the hand-to-hand combat training of the Israeli military, Mr. Attila FARKAS is an International Bodyguard and Master teacher of VIP Protection and escorting, Mr. Zoltán SZABÓ is a recognised shooting trainer of the Hungarian Police Department, Mr. Lajos TURAI is a bomb disposal expert, whose high professionalism is proven by the fact that he managed to reach retirement without one single injury.

The main subject of this 6th SEC-tember was the security work inside the buildings. A special training program was organised, in which the security assignment inside buildings was dealt with from the eye of the bodyguard and security agent.

40 participants (mostly IBSSA members) from 10 countries attended the training course not for 3 days, as usual, but for 5 days. The majority of the participants were employees of civil security companies. The course started at the FBI Academy and continued on the training site of the Adyliget Law Enforcement College. The 8-hour training session – as well as the evening courses – included practical shooting, action psychology, VIP tactical-technical training, escorting techniques, Krav Maga, bomb detection theory, as well as guarding techniques and Executive Protection.


In the discussions during the breaks, several participants spoke about their earlier work in Iraq, while others recounted their time in the French Foreign Legion. There was a person who arrived from a Western- European capital, where he works as a professional crime fighter, during which activity he regularly uses hand-to-hand combat techniques, and there was also a Hungarian young woman working as a bodyguard.

During the 6th SEC-tember Senior Candidates of the training course had the possibility to receive International Qualifications of IBSSA, depend on the recommendation of the Master Teachers Team of the course and the successful exam in front of the Teachers.

This very successful 6th SEC-tember blessed with a newly graduated Instructors team for IBSSA, and some candidates were qualified and elevated to higher ranks:

After the Instructors’ qualification the official Closing Ceremony of the event took place at the PETNEHÁZY COUNTRY CLUB. Prof. George POPPER – President of IBSSA and Dr. Rony KLUGER (ISR) – General Secretary of IBSSA handed over the IBSSA Certificates of Participation to the attendees of the training course. The IBSSA Master Teachers’ Team also congratulated all participants.

Prof. George POPPER – President of IBSSA announced the next program – the Award Ceremony and handed over the certificates to the best participants and winners with the assistance of Dr. Rony KLUGER, Mr. Karl DELAGUERRA, Mr. Zoltán SZABÓ and Mr. Lajos TURAI:
