IBSSA President was awarded in Hall of Fame Martial Arts Europe on the 8 November 2014
The Opening Ceremony of the “Hall of Fame of Martial Arts Europe” took place on the 8th November 2014 in Rheine, Germany. This initiative was established and the first awarding event was organised by Mr. Werner Tewes.
During the ceremony – among others – Prof. George Popper, President of IBSSA and Mr. Sem “Semmy” Schilt, five times K-1 heavyweight world champion were awarded and became members of “Hall of Fame of Martial Arts Europe”.
This significant event was also a great opportunity to award Mr. Sem “Semmy” Schilt with the Honorary Membership of the IBSSA. The certificate and the ID-card were handed over the Semmy by Prof. George Popper – President of IBSSA.

Mr. Sem “Semmy” Schilt is a Dutch former Ashihara karateka, kickboxer, mixed martial artist, one time Glory Heavyweight Grand Slam Champion and four-time K-1 World Grand Prix Champion. He is the only fighter in K-1 history to win the championship three times in a row. He has also competed in mixed-martial arts fights for the Pride Fighting Championship, UFC and Pancrase organizations. He is the former King of Pancrase Openweight Champion.

Schilt is the most decorated Heavyweight kickboxer in history, having won five major tournaments. He is widely regarded as one of the division's all-time greats.

Semmy had a small role in the feature film Transporter 3 as a henchman.

In 2013 Semmy Schilt was officially inducted into the CBME's Dutch National Hall of Fame for the Martial arts.
