Report on the 2nd IBSSA International Bodyguard Ball

On the 23rd of March 2001, In-Kal Security Company - in cooperation with IBSSA - organized the very successful 2nd IBSSA International Bodyguard Ball in Budapest in Hotel Gellért.

More than 250 participants from 14 countries of 4 continents - Austria, Australia, Canada, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Libya, Moldavia, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine, the USA and Yugoslavia were present at this event. Excluding the members of IBSSA many Hungarian and foreigner high police officers - for example the president of the Hungarian Police Academy -, security experts and politicians honored the ball.

It was a fascinating event where "ADVANCED TASER" a less lethal weapon was shown first in Hungary here during the evening. Mr. John L. MACZKO - Chairman of Narcotics Policy Department of IBSSA demonstrated the Taser. What happens, is that 2 probes are fired at the suspect and an electrical charge is delivered through "taser wire" from the hand held pistol like unit. The "T-Waves" pass through the body causing loss of control over the entire body's muscular system. The unit can be fired at a range of around 5 meters. The system also has a back up shocking feature should it be needed. The system is safe, reliable and extremely effective. Mr. Attila FARKAS, member of IBSSA - who was for years the security front man of Michael Jackson and worked for such famous people as George Bush, Robert Duvall, and Robert Redford etc. - received the "Award for International Bodyguard Services". This award was established recently by IBSSA and was handed over to Mr. FARKAS by Mr. George Popper - Executive President of IBSSA and Prof. Giacomo Spartaco BERTOLETTI, KCM - Vice President of IBSSA assisted by Mr. Joseph POLYÁK - Chairman of Protocol Department of IBSSA and Bodyguard of the Year 2000.

Mr. István "KOKO" Kovács - WBO professional boxing world champion, Hungarian Champion, amateur European and World Champion, Olympic Champion - was elected as Honorary Member of IBSSA. The Membership Diploma was presented him by Mr. László BARÁTH - Country Representative of IBSSA for Hungary and Mr. György LASZ - Regional Representative of IBSSA for Hungary. Mr. George Popper - Executive President of IBSSA and Prof. Giacomo Spartaco BERTOLETTI, KCM - Vice President of IBSSA welcomed the new Honorary Member.
